That looks like a hook that would be used to hold a weight in a old window sash.

Wow, round trip.

It's used to hook onto the sash weight in a window. I have pulled a lot of those from windows when I was helping my dad tear down an old farm house back in the 60s. Top of the weight is elongated with the the same bevel as the hook. The rope ties to the hook. JM2CW !      Thanks for sharing.                                                            Roger

Never seen one of those down here and I have pulled very many window weights out of wall!

Never seen one like that either.  All sash weights I've ever seen, the rope connected directly to the large cylindrical weight.

I would have to say that I've never seen one in a window frame either. All of them I've seen were cast cylinders. The workmanship is definitely crude enough to be used for something like that.

I was hoping that someone would come along that had run into these. Shoot I was hoping it was a salesman's sample of a wrecking ball and would be worth a couple thousand dollars.   :mad2:

The curved hook sure reminds me of one off a hanging balance scale. I never saw one on a Window weight.

That was my first thought.
