MY SERIAL NUMBER IS 1446026350 i would like to know all i can about this one because i am restoring it i also am looking for a gear cluster for rearend and don't wana buy it from dealer
Looks like it's a 1975.
They're nice little tractors, please post pics when you get a chance.
There are several manuals on here regarding the MF10's. When you get a chance, they can be very helpful when restoring.
As for the rear end, you may have to do a little looking. If you'd let us know what part of the country you're in... someone may be able to give you a lead.
Look on Ebay for Deere Transaxles - the 110, 112, 210,212 and 214 models all used the Peerless 2300 series transaxles with the same three gear cluster as the MF10. Complete transaxles go for about US$125 and up - and you don't know what's inside - but there are often disassembled collections of gears, shafts and seals that seem to sell for around US$40 to 60. Two are up for sale at the moment - one looks particularly good. The serial number relates to early 1975.
I have a rusty batch of gears that just need a cleaning I would give to you for free , just have to take care of shipping unless you are close by. I even have a pic LOL
Hey George... Just how big and bulky is that main axle shaft that the hubs go onto? I have a perfectly good axle that some moron welded plate steel to the shafts when the hubs wore out. It would be nice to have as a spare axle. Just wondering if it would be worth the shipping.
Did you ever clean any of those gears off to see if they are really bad? Electrolysis might make short work of it and clean them up nice.

I did clean one gear off partially and it does seem like it would clean up good. Kind of like the muck preserved it as well as made a nasty goo. I don't think shipping would be too bad on an axle. UPS would be the way to go or even usps parcel post. It is the gear housing that is heavy.
I forgot to add, I took some of the gears out and put them in a box to be cleaned at a later date if I decide to do it and then set the rest of the transmission outside to either haul in for scrap or if anyone needs parts LOL
all try and get you guys some pics of my Massey .
also looking at the front end of a Massey does anyone else think it kind of resembles the front end of the general lee on the dukes of hazard?
Timothy, one of our site sponsors are in Ohio, his name is Bob and his username is bhts. His site is Welcome to Bob's Lawn and Garden Tractors , he might have some rear ends for parts and you might not be too far from him either. With everything we have going on right now it would be a while till I could take the time to clean that gear cluster out of the rusty tranny. I would just want shipping to be paid for and you can have the gears but I haven't cleaned it down far enough to know if they are all in good shape or not.
Tim i never got a email but here is my number 937-308-1184.
