My neighbor was just given the lawn mower.
Told it had no spark.
New spark plug, fresh gas, runs fine.
Anyone know what make it is

The chute in front of the wheel made them tippy and I think that was gone by the end of the 60s. Looks like a generic that was rebadged for any of a bunch of stores. Nice and simple to use, but no safety devices. Good Luck, Rick

Reminds me of my youth and all the lawns I push mowed to get spending money. The biggest one I had took over 2 hours and I got 3$ using my own mower and gas. What a bargain they got! Of course, that was in 1973.

Just Junker to me, generic store brand. Bet was MTD or Murray made. There is name on front of chute, can't read in picture, you see there?  Also looks like a small black tag on rear behind engine, most likely info on it at One time anyway.

Have mowed with one of those. Pain in the butt on a rough lawn. The chute would hang up and you had to push down on the handle to get over bumps. Most had the chute bent from running into things.

Most had the chute bent from running into things.

The fire hydrant, the tree, the swing set. . .

The words on the front of the deck are "Proven"

Whats on that black id tag?

The black Tag says "when ordering parts be sure to mention model or serial number 871" or some such thing.
Pretty generic. Must have been sold by a small chain store

Thanks!
Joe
