You're right Bruce, the hood can't be opened when the chipper is installed. I ran out of fuel and had to remove the belt to allow for the chipper box to flip to fill her up.
Not so practical when you have a lot to chip and you have an oil burner like mine. Had to fill her up twice to make 30cu/ft of mulch.

So I guess the shredder that is for sale on CL is a 12P, looks like a more capable unit.

Thanks for sharing the video. We did hang my shredder on the front of the 1053 to go to a show but never hooked it up to run. It's been awhile but as I recall opening the hood was an issue with mine also. Still a really neat attachment.

I came across this and the seller say it is for the Bolens Tube Frame. Is this a rear or front operated one? Also which model is this one? Fairly rusty but is it all complete apart from the belts and prop shaft? Photos below are difficult to decipher details.

Thats the desirable rear mount version(Tubeframe) , been temped to buy it myself but too many irons in the fire right now tractor budget is down as i'm getting something NLA reproduced for Bolens in the near future,

Only thing that is not there is the driveshaft than ran under the machine to the PTO , if he dosent have it that would kill the value alot

screen and hammers are all there

I saw the prop shaft was not there but it might be knocking around somewhere......

I had a self powered one, B&S on it.........They do a good job, but are noisy buggers.
