My best guess is that it's an MTD 990. A straight on shot of the grille would tell it better. That's my guess though.

It is definitely an MTD, but definitely not the highly desired 990. The 990s have 15 inch rims on the back. I would say it is worth picking up but don't pay a pretty penny for it.

I don't think it's a 990,the rear fenders don't look right.

I agree it is a MTD, has that grill and hood front like the 990. The rest of it though doesn't look like a 990.

I think it's a 960, much the same as 990 but with 12" wheels

i'll try again. This one was labeled Columbia 960 though those look like 10" wheels?

Hi

Looks like an MTD 960. Model No 141-960 will get you a look at the manual on the MTD site. The one in your photo doesn't look quite the same under the hood, but it 's difficult to tell. In the manual it shows a clutch and an angle drive with a belt/tensioner setup driving the Peerless 2500 4speed rear end. It is like they kept the engine layout from the 990 and adapted it to belt drive a manual transaxle.

It turns out thats is a 860. the 760 was a 10 hp the 860 was a 12 hp and the 960 was a 16 hp
