Got this one yesterday, was told it's a 72 model. It's a lean ranger electric with a 5 horse? Tecumseh. Engine is free, won't start and was told it has no spark, haven't had time to mess with it much yet. I was thinking of a repower on this one. What do yall think?

That looks in nice shape. I have one with a 7 hp Tecumseh. Mine is in bad condition so I'm stripping the parts I want and will then offer up what is left. The 5hp might be replaced with a newer lawn mower engine (plenty at the local dump). Just keep the original incase, later. Good Luck, Rick

Thanks Rick, mine could be a 7 horse, not really sure. I'm gonna send a little time with it this week and see if I can get it goin. If it needs something major I'll repower it.

I'd fix the Tecumseh.  That would have one of the better Tecumsehs, very rebuildable and very reliable.  Points and condenser are cheap as well... and I'm sure that is all you need to get some fire out of it.

Its only got the original engine once.

I have one setting in the back corner of my pole barn. It has a 7hp in it and if I remember right needs the carb looked at. It could find a new home if interested.
