Does it do it when the mower deck belt is uninstalled?
Also, it almost sounds like something is rubbing. I can't see the guide on the idler back in... Are you certain all the guides are where they belong and aren't rubbing on the belt. Real easy to do on the one down in... Especially with the deck on

Well the mower belt hasn't rubbed too much. It's the drive belt that's smoking bad. I need to check the middle pulley then.

Does the drive belt move though at idle?

That belt will move any time the clutch pedal is up. Shouldn't move when the clutch is down.

If its smoking, there has to be wear. Where is it rubbing?

The middle pulley that you adjust..the guide is rubbing belt.

I'll get it fixed today.

Ok. How do you guys have you governor set?

Where do I get an rpm gauge?

How the hell do you set this governor? I looked at the manual and still don't get it.

I'm about damn tired of it.

Don't give up yet, just walk away for a bit. I've been there, frustrated, aggravated and pizzed off.

You've got several posts here, about different problems, I think you may be trying to fix too many things at once, ....

Concentrate on one thing , get it resolved, and move to the next.

The guys on this forum are great, they will walk you thru most anything!

Yeah I know. But im fed up with it right now. I'm taking it to the shop. Let them deal with it and once they find the issue then I'll know.

I'm just ready to use it

I hope. I appreciate the help guys. Seriously. But I have no more patience with it right now. I'm ready to work.

Guy at mower shop says he hasn't seen one of these in a long time

Well I've been away out west and finally made it home for a bit.

I called the people at the shop and the guy whose been working on it is gone to Dr appointment and won't be back til Monday. the guys there say it's running but it's spitting and spuddering some.

they said the carb might need to be cleaned od get a new one. they asked me if i had the air filter stuff and i said yes. I told them it is new carb as well. got it a month ago.they also said it looked like some linkages are missing. maybe has water in gas. they said I can come and look at it and hear it run and if it's ok it'll be $40.

I told them it might need the air baffle I got cause it may be leaking air with the spacer I made.

so we'll see.

Well I have finally gotten my little tractor back from the shop. They got it set good and it runs. I've mowed with it today but I kind of have to play with the choke some. If I close it all the way..the engine wants to be sluggish sometimes or rev up and rev down like it's starving for air or fuel. Once I pull back on the choke some and open it...it settles out some and runs decent.

So far I like it...our place is thick with weeds/grass so it will take some time to go over it. I've also notice the belt wants to try to engage the blade when I have the deck off when driving along.

Also if I get in some thick stuff..the belt starts smoking..lol

How is that tecumseh working for you now? I do alot of tecumseh engines for people if you have any more questions feel free, and if it is still surging I can try to help you fix that. I have a good idea of what it is
