I don't envy you. Sun screen and lots of fluid.

Me and dad were talking to a guy today about metal roof. Seems the way to go for the money.

I'll never lay another shingle myself.  I go metal with all roof replacements.  But I don't like getting on much of any roof these days.  I just don't feel so secure off the ground.  Why I don't know, I just live with it.

Roof work never gets easier it seems. Today we were putting plywood on a roof. Steeper than we prefer, 12 and 14 pitch.

Friday update. Got all the paper on and drip edge today. Cut two holes for vents to go on. We have shingles all the way to top of the addition part and just past that on the big part, just up to the waste vent and near those vent areas. Going faster now with just the bigger side to finish to top. About 11ft to top and is 31ft wide left. Then the ridge vents and cap shingles.Should be able to finish most tomorrow, hopefully before it rains around 5:00 in afternoon they say could start. I have that small section in pix with diff color shingles to do. Cant make up mind to go over what is there or remove like the rest. Removing is getting the biggest like, but will be another time. Looking like a tarp over that small roof Peak for the time. Supposed to be better later next week, might finish rest then. Then have to put on some new fascia and put the orig plastic soffet back under eave to finish off. All can be done at later time.

We put shingles on our 40x50 ft. Quonset when we built it 26 years ago. This spring I priced out steel vs. shingles--- steel was $65.00 cheaper than the good shingles! Had to hire the job done, I'm past doing that kind of stuff even with help, but I'm sure pleased with the result.

Roof is done!!  Stripped that small section in one day and roofed it up the next. Little harder to work, was steeper, good thing only about 8ft up to peak. did much from ladders and board below till we couldn't reach anymore. When I was putting on the paper it decided to rain, BIG TIME! Was running to garage to get last paper cut to finish and back out in it. The lower layers were running off with water already when I laid that last 10ft of paper at top. Wasn't supposed to rain for 3 days, then this 20 minute store with HUGE drops shows up. I got peak layed over  to keep water out and was a wet rag before done. Went back in house and short time later, Sun out big time again and stuff drying out. Didn't take long to dry and was back at it soon. SIL dropped by to assist and we got it all done then. Glad that is done. Think will be last one for me. NOW, one more trailer full of junk to dump. Small GT trailer this time, but unloading is a lot of work by hand, So, GUESS still not really done afterall, ewwww!  That will be a week day thing to get to dump with.

Trailers empty of trash now, no easier with smaller trailer to unload by hand, heh! Put up some 5" gutter with big 3 x 4 downspouts for faster removal with all that water from one big roof side. Still have center downspout to do yet, but will get there soon. Here's couple shots of the stuff in.
