Ran across a 420 with a 4-way blade last week. I have been looking for a blade for the 430 and dad was interested heavy duty mower so we worked up a deal. Told him we could bring it to my place and I would try and make it yard ready for him. It has been re-powered with a 24hp Onan and the hydro is strong. Noticed a vibration and noise then she sheared the flywheel key. Pulled the engine tonight and gonna look for a key tomorrow. :smile1:

Yep, my FIL should love this 420. The mower deck seems to be in fine shape, and spindles smooth, and like new belt. & gearbox feels perfect also.

Thanks guys, I think dad will be well pleased when it's all said and done.
They had to order the key :( but I should have it by Thursday. The pto clutch is not coming on but the coil checks fine so maybe I can get that figured out while I'm waiting on the part. If all goes well maybe he can mow with it this weekend.:dancingbanana:

BTW, me and dad would have to get a whole lot more of green GT's to out number the red down the road!:mecry:

Hey, I can rework the trailer & still keep an eye on what Fred's doing! lol But I had no part in finding/buying this 420...all Fred's handiwork. But I do enjoy helping Fred spend his money! Took some prodding him on both the 330 and especially the 430. Oh he wanted them alright, but after buying the 330, he hated to lay out the money for the 430. I've known Fred for near 18yrs now, and for 18 years I've heard about the legendary JD430, and I wasn't letting him pass on the chance to finally own one........and like I said....fun helping others spend money, especially if I'm broke! :D

Got the engine set back in the frame and started hooking it back up. Stopped to work in the garden for a while. Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and radish in the garden now:bounce:

Hey Chuck, Thanks for the offer but, he got a set of mounted turf tires on JD rims included in the deal and I got a 20hp Onan parts motor with the blade. :orangecool:
