Wind has been howling all night & getting worse. 40+mph gusts. Had to get on barn roof this morning & screw down loose spots before we lost whole sections. Since we began using screws years ago on roofs, I'll NEVER use another nail for steel roofing....or for roofing period, as I'll never lay another shingle. Steel all the way for me.....with screws!
I couldn't stand up on the roof, as the sudden gusts would nearly knock me down. Storms on their way this afternoon....severe they say.
And then I get to dehorn some weaned calves too! Fun day huh!

Yeah, fun. You be careful on that steel roofing. Good luck on the calves.

Daniel, DITTO on that regarding roofing nails/screws.
Several years ago, we hired a guy to go up on one of our large sheds, and pull all of those stupid lead ringged
nails, and put srews in. I think he was up there about a week.
Hope your roofs make it through the winds.

Up until Sat. morning the wife and I had planned on going for a 5-6 day road trip starting this morning.
Destination Maine.
After Friday's snow there, and looking at the forecast, we cancelled that plan.
Then we thought about Nashville, but again forecast didn't look promising.
Called that right by looks of things.

Yeah well it hit South Central Iowa yesterday afternoon just about the time I got some cornstalks caught in the muffler of my Yardking and started the cornfield on fire.?? Burnt off about 1.5 acres before I got it stopped.

Plan B Take the snowblower off the 318, the muffler is mounted high enough that can't happen.

As for the screws vs nails, for me it's no choice. Being blind in the left eye and left handed, I don't see too straight and bend nails all too often. I screw everything I can.

The nasty stuff just started at my place, wind, rain, thunder and lightning. I lost a stove pipe off the garage yesterday. Ripped the screws out of the rusted elbow!

Tornado warning 30 miles or so away. Gonna get nasty soon. Teresa had to take daughter to orthodontist....hate her being out in this. Turns out I could have took her, but didn't know until just after they left.
