Need to find (hopefully) a cheap alternative replacement for the Kohler K482. 11/8" output shaft. Anyone have any suggestions?

You might be able to find a used engine out of another brand of gt.

I see them on craigslist from time to time. The Wheel horse used the k482 in some of their tractors. If you wanted to do a bit of work I think that an 18HP briggs twin L head engine could work. I put one in a tube frame tractor. Those engines come up quite often on craigslist in the old craftsman tractors from the 80's and early 90s. Usually they are the craftsman ll model six speed. here's a picture of mine.
