I agree with you. Good Luck, Rick

I think that is the factory exhaust.

Exhaust looks right to me also. At least Very similar mounting, and have seen others with variations in same place. I don't think those decks HAD belt guards at time. Looks like a $300 to $400 tractor if around Me. Course being Way out in oblivion in the world, might make it more valuable??

The muffler is correct, Columbia, regular MTD use this Nelson muffler as well as White, this is the first one other than a White that I have seen that has the guard. The mufflers with guards have threaded tabs welded on to the muffler.

Do you guys think it's capable of cutting two/three feet tall grass/ vegetation as a one off job. I would mow in dry conditions on a high setting in low box and the plan would be to mow regularly afterwards.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
I would not mow a 2-3 ft field with mine. I have done what you are describing but only to widen my regular cutting area. In the past I have cut high weeds and damaged the deck by hidden things like small stumps and rocks. The blade baffle bent in and the blade ripped it off jamming the deck.
Too high a price, maybe half that.
