Brought this freebie cub 124 home today. Its been sitting for awhile and was told it didn't run. After charging the battery and shooting some gas in the carb I got it to fire. The carb will need the gum cleaned out so it will keep running.

NICE!!!!  There's at least $300 worth of accessories on there between the weights, headlight panel and rear lift.  Looks pretty straight as well.  Good score.

I cleaned the carb in my sonic cleaner and got it running. I took it for a test drive and everything went well. The steering could be tightened up a little and some small things attended to, but I think it is a good sound tractor.

Steering on these cubs are easy. I have gone through (inspect and adjust) two steering columns, one front axle, all the joints, and modified the drag link to have equal left vs right lock to lock steering. If you need help or advise let me know, but most of the steering on these old cubs don't need much, so don't be fooled into the super steer kits or steering gear rebuild kits unless you really need it, because just a little tweaking and tightening goes a long ways.

I just started replacing tie rod ends on Cub Cadets with heim joint ends with the pressed in stud. About $6 each through McMaster Carr, but well worth it. My 108 just received heim joints and the 102 is about to be upgraded too. It has a few front axle issues that I need to resolve. I may try to use the front axle in the parts 109 in the 102.... With the 102 spindles.... Hmmm, don't think it's going to work but can at least look to see.

Thanks, wvbuzzmaster. When I get into it I'll keep you in mind.

Not free. We are doing a trade deal to be yet to be determined. It will be mower related though.
