Thank you for that info. I forgot to include a picture of my RAM. It is a model 21HD-01. Based on the user manual I found here I thought it was 1958 but I may be mistaken. What do you think as far as the year?

Very nice unit Ed,Thanks for the pics

Thank you, the reason I ask so many questions is that I have a lot of attachments that i want to restore for these units. The Power HO needs to be disassembled cleaned again and i want to clear coat it.

Those front mount decks on the versa-matics are real hard on the handle bars , my 58' must have been used alot with the mower attachment as the handle bars are bent and have been re-welded several times.  its a bear to lift with that heavy long deck  in the front.

Thanks guys for all the info much appreciated. Wilbur the RAM is the original metal flake color, I think. The history is this. The gentleman that I bought it from found it in the barn of a relative. Come to find out it was his Dad's tractor and he actually rode on it back in the 60's. The tractor was in a box in pieces. He bought the tractor with plans to restore it one day.  A friend of his who owns a shop was looking for a Winter project and offered to completely restore it professionally if he paid for all the parts and paint.

He remembered that tractor being a metallic color when he was young in the 60's so they did use metallic paint as we have so often heard. When the engine came off the frame there was perfect original metallic paint under there. He got the paint matched 100% with some sort of equipment at the shop.

Just hearing that history solves the long winded question 'did they really use metallic paint back then' So this color is most likely the same or very close to Brian's color. Just knowing the history of this tractor and what he remembers about the color makes me feel that this is the proper color. If  you need it i may have the color code for it I think he gave me the remainder of the quart of special mixed paint. BTW that tractor is awesome it's like just off the showroom floor he spared nothing everything was either rebuilt or replaced. It is very solid.  I love it.

Here's a few more pic's to try and show that color.

Would you have any idea on the year of my Power HO model Deluxe 12BB-01? I attached pictures of it earlier in the thread.

12BB-01 was 1950-1953

Did you put those decals on the Ride-a-Matic  or did they?

Thank you for the info. The guy that restored the RAM did the decals. Do they look correct?
