actully I pretty well need a whole deck

but could get by a gear box

as the shaft and gear has striped the splines on the vertical shaft that runs the blade belt

also in need of new blades

does AGRO still stock parts for these decks

the deck is pretty rusty with a number of holes but is serviceable if I can find parts

anyone have a source for or parts in southern Ont

will consider a whole deck as well

blades are almost ground down to the point of non servicable

if I have too I could weld the gear to the shaft but that would make it non repairable in the future so will be a last resort

gear box is my biggest problem

what would you be looking to get for one of them

I can patch the deck as its only bad in non support areas

so I called AGRO today

surprize they actully stock mower blades $39.00 bucks each pretty steep

the out put shaft is also getable in about 10 days

but the worst part the gear is no longer getable

so I cut a keyway in my shaft and gear made it so it couldn't slide out the bottom and is held in place by the bearing

made it a friction fit so hade to set gear then shaft with key way and taped it in

it works and at least can still be repaired in the future

could also weld the gear on but that would make it non servicable

have cut with it for an hour now and still going

now on the hunt for parts or another deck

If you swap the gears around, I think they will ride on the back side of the teeth, and give you a little more life if I remember correctly.  I think I did this on mu box when I rebuilt it a few years back   The gears are interchangable with the MF-7 and MF8 decks too.

Hi, I'm in the process of rebuilding my mf12 deck too. I like how thick of metal they made these out of. Mine is not rusted through but I would thick any good welding shop could fix you up. I did see a part for a John Deere deck to reinforce the area where the spindles bolt in. It was a metal ring that fit under the spindle and used the 3 spindle bolts. May help or maybe you could have one made.
I also found new pullies at MFGsupply.com, only a few $$ each. I know you can't get the old ones off without bending them. Spindle bearings are just standard bearings and should be easy to get too.
Read up on electrois (spelling) for rust removal works really well.

Best thing I did was to have a coating of truck bedliner under the deck shield. It keeps all that grass and dirt from rusting out the deck.
