I am just finishing up taking a Jd. 140 H-3 down to part out and found this on the side of the frame rail behind the left rear tire. So I thought I would share....

It reads from bootom of frame to top. It had been repainted at one time, but because they didn't prep well, the paint peeled off so you could see this. I figure it's either build date or final inspection date. What do you think?

That is neat Brian! I'd say your right about the final inspection date. I'm not basing that on anything except intuition though LOL! Nice find!

Hey Brian, I know a guy that is keeping track of those numbers along with the serial mumbers of the tractors. If you wouldn't mind sending those to me I will pass it on to him.
