My son and I painted his car last weekend. It's a 1964 Rambler. He is putting a 343 V8 and automatic transmission in it.

Ohhhh, I like that........a lot! My older bro had a 343 in a Rebel. And my buddy had one in a Javelin back in the day. They were both quick. And underated, IMO. Love to see your progress going forward. That's cool stuff, really nice work there. Gotta love a father/son project

Great father-son project, nice to see that, and the car too. That used to be my hobby, painted about 10. Now at my age, lawn tractors are more my size. Thanks for sharing and bring back good memories.

Nice! I haven't painted a car in 25+ years but plan to do my truck soon. What paint and what gun did you use? Good Luck, Rick

That Rambler would look badd a$$ with chrome reverse rims and baby moon caps. I love the old school look. Nice machine the boy has.

My dad bought a new 1964 Rambler Classic wagon back then. Factory ordered with a 287 v8, 3 on the tree. When I graduated from HS, I bought a 72 Gremlin X with a 304 v8 with 3 on the floor that I upgraded. When I sold it, it had a 400+ hp 360 with a 4 speed. Afterwards while I was in the Air Force in Nebraska I got a 1970 Rebel Machine red, white & blue with a 340 hp 390. That ran pretty good, but was nowhere close to the Gremlin!

Rick wanted to know what paint and gun used.  Gun was set at a wide spray and 45 psi at the gun. Sorry about the paint over the paint can. Mixture was 4 parts paint, 1 part hardener and 2 parts reducer.  It was painted in my garage where ever thing is done in. We whetted the floor and cabinets before painting, put a box fan in the man door and opened the garage door about 3" up for ventilation. Also whetted the ground outside at the doors.   Noel

You have cool little American there and it's gonna be a winner when it's finished!

My only Rambler was '65 Marlin, black and silver, 232 inline 6 with 2 bbl carb, 3 speed on the column with overdrive, bucket seats that reclined, knock off wheel covers. I bought it from a closed car lot in Delaware, brought it back to my shop and restored it. Sold for less than I had in it to a disabled veteran that thought it was cool.  That was about 1980.
