My LX277  ( hydrastatic drive ) has a hydraulic fluid leak and I can't figure out where it is at. I was mowing a few weeks ago and the tractor was whining and loosing speed and when I investigated the rear was covered in fluid. I replaced the hose and clamps but the next time I used the tractor it did the same thing. I then removed the tank thinking it had a hole worn in it but it does not. While sitting in my basement ( without the tank on but the hose filled with fluid ) it has dripping slowly. Does anybody hav a idea wehere it is leakin from? Does anybody know how to remove the pedals so I can remove the body?  The tractor will not free wheel, does this have anything to do with the low fluid? Thanks, any help is apprecaated.LX 277 002.jpg

A few pics of before you cleaned it and after sitting would help me.  I don't have any experience with the LX series machines.

Well I put it back together last week and it has not leaked while parked but when I started it today it still would not free wheel and it barely would reverse although forward was fine, anybody have a theory of what is going on.

Well I think I have it figured out. When I looked a little closer I realised the fan that cools the trans is missing all of its blades. I am assuming the fluid is over heating and leaking from the top of the resevoir. I do not know how the blades broke off and I have never found one. I wiil take a picture when I take the body off to replace the fan.
