Hello all, I recently acquired a new to me jb1 in decent shape for 180 dollars. It currently is not running but I'm hoping to have it going soon. The problem I'm facing now is that I have no power to the ignition switch. I am looking for a wiring diagram for this unit and am having trouble finding one. I downloaded the manual for it from this site but still don't see a wiring diagram.

Not decent wiring diagram in there, more of a loom shot. We have some good BH gurus on here, bear with us until they come along!

You are right but, it was the best that I could find. It looked like a diagram could be created by following the color codes. It also introduces him to the Manuals Section and that we will try to help. Good Luck, Rick

Welcome to the forum! $180 is an outstanding deal! Please post pictures when you can. I have wanted to draw a diagram of it for a while - Titus was asking for the same info a while back . Maybe he can be of help.

Wow......you got a great deal for sure!! You only paid around 18cents a pound for it. When you can, I would appreciate getting its serial number. I suspect it is between 500 and 700.

Again congrats on a great find!

What a buy for just $180!  Unless someone re-engineered the ignition, the engine has magneto, so the only wire going to the engine itself would be a kill wire that grounds out the system to kill spark.  Unhook that wire from the harness, then if there's still no spark it's either in the points, points push pin, condenser, or the mag coil itself.  Then mice may have chewed on connecting wires there too.

If  you do any rewireing be sure power can not run back to the magneto, it will fry it. Great looking tractor!

I made a little progress on the bush hog tonight. It's alive! Replaced magneto with a coil from a newer machine. Cleaned the carb and we were off, rough, but running.

In other news I ran across a disappointing find. It seems that the intermediate shaft that runs from the front to the rear pto. Has anyone ever made one of these?

So you have the rear reduction gear box on the back? Daniel fabricated a rear PTO on one of his JB's. There should be a thread on it somewhere in the BH forum. Maybe he can help you. Mine currently does not have the rear pto setup. Good to hear you are making some progress!
