Welcome aboard. If it runs and is fun to use, it's worth whatever it costs to replace it, imo. I've just been around this bush with my admittedly ratty looking J.D. stx38. "Mechanic" said it wasn't worth fixing,(old and pretty worn looking, like its owner, lol) Anyhow, after some help from the GTT crew here, and a total expenditure of around $70.00 it's running fine. Cost of the one they wanted to sell me, $2500.00 Don't under rate a backyard treasure.

Don't let the 408's size fool you. That is a very capable little rider. I had one and wish I still did. I'm with the guy who said push for 75 bucks, here in N.E. it would be listed for over 100.

You've got nothing in it so clean it up, get it running, and you might be surprised. First make sure you have clean fuel and oil. Go for it.

Well knock me down and call me shorty, this 408 will be at my house Saturday if all goes as planned. It seems a friend bought it from the OP and later asked if I was interested in it.

I just today found out where it originated from. Small world.

No lurch, just you do.  :D

This will be a fun project, I plan on letting my grand kids run around the farm on it.

Well it's safely tucked away with the rest of my herd. I'll start a thread when I get into it but it may be awhile, I need to get other projects out of the way first.
