I finished another rocking horse from extra pieces I had after building the first 2.

Here is a wine bottle holder I am making for a friend's birthday. I cut this piece of hickory from a log in the firewood pile.
here it is with out finish on it.

Here is is after 2 coats of linseed oil and 3 coats of shellac.

This shows how much the oil warms up the tone of the hickory

It just balances, that's part of the magic of this otherwise plain block of wood.
