Orange?

It's just been repainted in non-factory colors.

Not unusual to see that on a Bolens.

Other than the paint being heavily oxidized, yes, that is the correct color. It should be yellow, but much brighter.

I consider the 853 one of the rarer tubframes. I've only seen a few come up for sale in the past few years. So far all of the ones I have seen are the early paint scheme and I haven't seen another one yet with the later paint scheme like mine has.

Looks to be pretty close to mine. My decals are different though.

Mine was made specifically for the Bolens tube frames. so that may account for the different decals

Speaking of seats, is there a conditioner to rejuvenate old vinyl that actually works?  I picked up a seat with no tears in it that sat outside for a long time...

I bet there are some really good products for that out there. I would check with a marine boat repair outfit. I used to use armorall in cars for vinyl seats.

The problem with vinyl is that as it ages it offgasses plasticizers and become ever more brittle. There are good cleaners out there, but as far as I know there are no products which will replace the missing plasticizers that make sheet vinyl pliable. Products like Armor-All only coat the surface.
