It's time to service the MF 710 mower deck for the same MF 7 that served me so well this winter. My question; what do you use to fill the gear boxes on the top of the the MF 710 mower deck, (oil, grease, slurry) ? I checked all the manuals, no mention of the servicing of the gearboxes. Thanks for any help.

From the MF10/12 service Manual.

"fill the unit with 4 ounces of Molybdenum Disulfide EP Lithium grease"

I'm sure they're the same gearboxes.

Thank you Sherwood, I'm sure they are the same. I wanted to get all the info before I pulled them apart.

Yep, minor changes on the output shafts, but they are so much the same, I am running a bevel gear taken from my MF-8's deck in my 12. (PS, "if" your gears show wear, swap them from left to right, they will now mate on the other side of the teeth and have a "new" surface!)
