I had the day off Tuesday and made my way to my local small engine shop. Cool place. Old in age and in school. You know, with the oily dust coating the wood walls and ceiling. The owner's busy and I look in the lot and I see this Case 220. Looks clean and original. Always admired Case. Had a '57 FEL 320 Industrial, but never a GT. The owner's brother walks over and tells me the background.  One owner and it's been serviced at this shop since new. K241 Kohler. 1976, 800 hours. I've got two acres to mow and have a large Gravely and Kubota for the bulk of the mowing. But there is a fair space inside fence that I been using a 2000 or so Craftsman to do. It's getting tired.......and loose. So I asked if it was for sale, thinking he'd say no. But it was. And after it fired right over and purred like a kitty, I put it through the paces and purchased it. It's got a couple issues. One deck wheel is shot. Hole in the deck needs welding. Front skins are low on tread. But overall, very happy.

That's a real nice one there. Perfect little backyard, sneak through the gate, tractor.

How'd you manage a day off? By all accounts, I've always got the impression the boss of that company was a bit of a butthead?

NICE SCORE!!!! Wish my 220 was in that nice of original condition.  I will get her that nice by this time next year hopefully.  I like those rear tires, not a common tread pattern to see anymore.  Mike

Nice lookin rig.  The Case decks are pretty thick compared to others and should weld up easy.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It paid to ask in this Case(couldn't resist). I've had a chance to mow with it a couple times now, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with this little tractor. The cut is smooth and clean. The hydraulic drive does take a bit of getting use to, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. And that K241 just purrrrrrs. Working on fabbing up a couple new deck wheels for it.

How'd you manage a day off? By all accounts, I've always got the impression the boss of that company was a bit of a butthead?

Oh, he is Scott. He never pays me for these days off, lol.

Thanks. I look forward to seeing your 220. I also like this style tread. I took a similar pair from the rear of an 800 Bolens and put them on the front of my Gravely Custom. Does nothing for traction, but they look mean.

Yup, nice relatively thick, quality steel. Should be a snap to TiG it up.
