We rented a JD 315 skid steer for a week...would have been nice if it had decent rubber. Did a lot of pushing with it until the rains came. Pushed some with it this morning, mainly honey suckle, sawbriars and saplings all around the tree line. Made some new trails, repaired a few and widen a few. Cub and box blade will be next after I do a little more sappling cutting. After I shut down for a little break I hear this hissing noise, thinking it is coming from the engine compartment but it's not. Then I see him, still hissing but I didn't fall for his bluff because he is totally harmless...a Hog Nose or "Hissing/Spreading Adder". Their main diet in the warm/hot months is Toads! I touched him with a stick and it flops upside down squirming and then plays dead. So convincing our dog wanted to roll on it omitting a decaying smell...yuck! Interesting morning for me and had a good laugh.

Looks like a good job done and comedic entertainment to boot.
Thanks for showing us the snake, neat defense mechanism.

I have prowled thru the woods all my life and never have seen one until a yr or so ago. I wonder if it's the same snake I asked myself? Plenty other species of snakes outback for sure. This snake will spread it's head wide like a cobra while it hisses~ but never strikes.

Better tires still wouldn't have helped you.  You were in a John Deere loader you know.
