Trying to locate a complete list of Bolens tractors with Model, Power size & mfg. and years of production. I have a list from TractorData but with with several omissions. There is no reference to same model types, like the G12XL being a 1255, etc. The super write ups on this forum are great but not in list form and was not meant to be for a quick look up. Also nothing has been mentioned about the medium frame XL series or the XT Tractors. Any suggestions as to where to look for this?

Yah, the serial numbers for the DGT 1700 were a bit off or should I say covered a wide range.

You get back into the 50s of those books the engines listed for the Ridemaster and Ride A Matic or not correct.

I have a half done spreed sheet done on bolens years I just had not had the time to work on it lately.

As Jerome said, some of the entries for the late 1940's and the 1950's are not correct in any of the Service Seminar books. As an example, the 35AA & 35AB Ridemasters are shown as having the Wisconsin BKN engine. That appears to actually be the factory authorized REPLACEMENT engine, not original equipment. To make matters worse, for years the Sonny's Bolens website used the same incorrect lists and was assumed to be gospel, so there is now a misconception out there.

Yes, but a bit pricy if you ask me.  He's fishing and I don't swim very well.

The part that is confusing for me is they have a model number of 1255 for example and it is listed at a G12.  Does this mean that a G14 with 14 hp Tech is a 1455?  Don't always shake out that way.

G14 is a 1453

Bolens always had two "Model" numbers for their 4 wheel tractors

It really would be nice to have an accurate searchable database.  I am constantly finding errors in the garden way catalogs and tractor data.com,  My searches have generally been limited to the 70's-80's medium frames, QT's, and HT's.

I have a QT16 with a 16 hp 2 cyl. Onan B43M that looks original.  A guy on youtube shows off his old, unrestored, "all original" QT16 with that engine too.  Garden way says they only used the BF-MS.

Tractor data says the HT23 uses 10 qts oil in the trans and 8 qts in the engine...

Bolens usually or often had two "Model" numbers for their 4 wheel tractors. :smilewink:

As far back as 1977, Bolens said the QT-16's were equipped as the following:

1973 # 1666-01 used Onan BF-MS/2425A

1974 # 1666-02 used Onan BF-MS/2425B & /2425C

1975 # 1666-03 Used Onan BF-MS/2938D

1976 # 1666-03 used Onan BF-MS/2938D & /2938E

1977 # 1666-03 used Onan BF-MS/3283F

Is your QT-16 a later model?  ...Possibly this is where Garden Way got their info ?????
