I recently traded a couple push mowers for a non running h14xl. Like most know it has the oh140 tecy. I tinkered with her some and got her to fire enough to check the hydro which seems to work properly. However the Tecumseh is knocking like no other. My question is what could I replace it with that doesn't require any cutting or fabrication? I just joined two minutes ago and apologize if this ?'s been asked before.

Welcome to GTT

Have you definitely ruled it a internal rod knock or could it be a worn drive shaft coupler of something else outside the engine?

Lots of Good knowledgeable guys here

I just picked her up last night and haven't had a chance to investigate. Everything is covered in a quarter inch of caked oil and she smokes like a freight train.

That engine is not very hard to rebuild. You might think about that.
