Last October, I bought a Haban sickle mo for my Bolens 1254 thinking I got the model 415a as I got the instructions manual with it. I have since then discovered it a model 425 used on the Simplicity Landlord. My fault entirely. The sickle mo is in very good original condition with very little use.

My question is which model/ era Simplicity Landlord would it be? I either sell the Haban or buy a Simplicity to go with it. I have seen a few pop up on eBay in the UK. What do I need to look out for?

Thanks

Andrew

Maybe the Simplicity 101. probably anything up to 3212V that wasn't variable speed. the 3212V is variable speed but i know allis models better than simplicity. if you were looking for an allis it would probably fit the b1 up to b110.

My favorite GTs are ACs and Bolens. A B-10 or a Big Ten(just one year) is a fun and snappy tractor. I have about 10 AC/Simplicities and about 10 Bolens. The Bolens are heavier and seem more powerful. Speed and ease of handling goes to the AC/Simplicity. Check out www.SIMPletrACtors.com for lots of info on these tractors. Most of us would like to have a dedicated tractor to each attachment. Good Luck, Rick

I'm no help on Simplicity fitment, however lest you already know , you would be looking for a Haban 405 ( belt driven off PTO) or a 405a ( shaft driven off PTO) for a tube frame Bolens. 415 is ( I believe) the model number of the large frame sickle mo.

Thanks. Yes that what confused me about the large frame (there was a scribbled note saying large frame on the manual) thinking it was connected to Bolens LFs plus the manual I got with it that had a Bolens on the front.

Does yours resemble the one SdHdCouple has pictured?  I'm not aware of a Haban that was ever made to fit the Landlord, or any Simplicity garden tractor, for that matter.  I could be wrong...kinda hope I am!  Simplicity build their own sickelbar and it worked very well.  The one shown is on an Allis, which was not a Simplicity built tractor, and so it didn't use the Simplicity sicklebar.

I attach the email from the seller detailing the Haban sickle mo below:

I bought it complete, but added the transfer box (the bit with the
green lid and the pully wheel coming out of the side on the right of
photo 2). This was to drive it from my Simplicity Landlord. It worked
great!
I used existing holes on the framework to fasten the transfer box, so
nothing was drilled or changed. Also, to mount it on the tractor I
added a couple of plates (to the right of the base frame and a bit
more orange in colour). You can see that these are fastened by 2 bolts
each and again I believe that these were existing holes. All the
remaining bits which I did not use have been stored and still look
like new. These include the drive shaft to the power take off.

I seem to remember that the plate underneath was put on by me,
effectively acts as a slide under the cutter.

When I look at the manual, which looks like a photocopy stapled
together, some of the pictures/drawings do not seem to be the same as
the real thing. It also says:
The sickle bar mower has been shipped ready to be assembled for the
Bolens 1886 tractor. If this unit is to be used on Bolens 1250, 1455,
1476 or 1477 make the adjustments on page 13A before assembly.

I have just had a careful look at it again. The drive shaft that came
with it has never been used (it is the red piece in the front of
picture 3). When my transfer box is taken off, the drive shaft is
fixed back in the same place and the pulley wheel goes on the end. a
further piece (just visible rear right behind the cutter guard) then
fits in the front end of the drive shaft and then goes onto the
power takeoff on the Bolens. It is splined.
The long red bar in the photo pushes into the rear of the central
tube and is then supported at the rear of the tractor on a
'shock absorber clamp'.
The other parts are for the mount to the front axle.

I will try to upload some photos of it.

Thanks

Andrew

I have now been told that this Haban is suitable for Bolens after all albeit the QS and QT series.
