Idiot puts tires on backwards!

I read somewhere they run the tires backwards when on dry pavement.

I read somewhere they run the tires backwards when on dry pavement.

All lug tires have better traction backwards than forwards, especially in muddy conditions. The reason they are not usually seen mounted backwards is because when you drive into mud and get stuck moving forwards, there is a chance you can back out of the mud without help. Not always a 100% deal, but any chance you can unstick your equipment without a winch, a tow bill, or a ribbing from a friend, should make your day better. Now back to your regularly scheduled horseplay.

Sounds logical, Casey. The tires mounted this way in normal driving direction may compact the mud - or not...

The rides a bit rough but it's a breeze to change the oil!

I know of one like that in northern Virginia with the tires actually going the right direction.
