How much is scrap steel paying in your part of the world? In the Milwaukee Wisconsin area the price is way down for some time now So I'm just setting on a pile waiting for it to go up.

I hauled off about 1/2 a pickup load of stuff a couple of weeks ago and got $8.10 for the effort!

I should have left it in the yard!

Most places make you have a certificate that the freon has been (environment safe) removed on items with compressors.

yes i hear you with that , although we dont have to many dramas with safety , but we only on 13 cents a KG here , some people cut the gas mixer tube on the fridges for easy copper scrap . there not supposed to ...........but

so that makes it easier for us to remove the compressor pumps from the fridges & such & claim the rest of copper pipe .

nothing then the Council can do

but in saying that big fines if there caught letting gases out & reported to the authorities with photo evidence

Doors have to be removed from fridges and freezers here, and Freon removed of course.

They are only paying $70 a ton here, it was $160. I have around 20 tons of cast iron (old tractor blocks/rear ends) and I've been holding them for a couple months now. So far no singe of the prices going up, I might half to hold it till next year :( which is kill me because I have no money :wallbanging:.
