Hello, I just joined this forum a few days ago. I previously belonged to a Bolens group on Yahoo but they made me change my password several times and somewhere along the line I lost track so I can no longer access my account. I was looking around for a more up to date group and found you guys. I have two Bolens' one is a 1050 about 1967,which I've owned for about thirty years, the other is a Suburban Tractor which was a hand- me-down. Both have mowers and snow blades although the blade for the ST is still buried in the previous owners garage. I also have a tiller and snow blower for the 1050. I see that everyone here likes pictures so I'll try my hand at posting one. It looks like there are some dedicated old tractor lovers here.image.jpg

Welcome to GTT

Nice looking machines you have there, lots of friendly guys here.

The yahoo groups are pretty treacherous these days, especially with all the spam , I used to go on them sometimes but cant navigate them once they switched the format. GTT is a much easier and cleaner place!

May as well add me to the newbie list, too. Tho I'm not exactly a newbie as I've had a Troy-Bilt Suburban ST 140 for the last 23 years. But since it was getting some age and wear I have been looking for something else. Tried pricing a few new sub-compact tractors on the market and after recuperating from the sticker shock, I decided to set my sights a little..well, a lot lower.

So I found a Bolens Duratrac GT 2000 on Craig's list within a reasonable deistance and will leave out in the morning to check it out and hopefully if it all looks good, bring it home with me. Don't know the year yet but the pics looked great and is showing just under 600 hours. Wish it had all the implememnts but... I hope to pick them up here and there as needed.

It is a hydro which was a bit of concern but the Eaton unit in my 140 has never even so much as hiccupped in it's 514 hours of use, so I'm not overly worried. Anyone have any other items I should look at, check out and/or any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wish me luck and I'll try to post some pics if it makes it home

Thanks fer havin' me,

The PTO coils are a well known trouble spot on these.  Make sure the PTO works or you're looking at some money to replace it.

Also, the Magnums have fuel pump issues.
