My wife gets mad at me because I never wear shorts.  I stopped wearing shorts when my mom stopped laying my clothes out for me.  I dislike the look, and find them generally uncomfortable as I hate the fabric hem rubbing my legs.  She always tells me "You are going to be burning up out there wearing jeans!"  And my response is always, I feel cooler in pants because it keeps the sun off my legs and works somewhat like an oven mitt shielding you from the heat.

The only times in the last 20 years that I have worn shorts is when I have went on vacation to the beach or when we went on our cruises.  The last cruise my wife bought me 5 new pairs of shorts.  I wore each pair once, and when we got back I washed them, folded them, and put them in a tote in top the closet.

Anyone else out there follow my thoughts? Or am the odd one out?

I'm right there with ya. I used to wear shoes all the time, but as I have gotten older, I rarely wear them. I get the same thing too..."aren't you hot in those jeans?". I wear shorts inside the house during the summer and maybe if we go to a picnic or similar, but usually pants.
Most the time it's cause I am working outaide, I hate getting grass clippings or sawdust from the chainsaw or grease from the cars on my legs.

I wear shorts any time I can. Mostly cut off jeans as they wear the knees out.

Pants only, no matter what I am doing, I am not a beach person. Some people wear them at their work, I won't do that either. Noel

I'm an Engineer to the bone so, I'm very logical about things. I have always worked outside atleast part of the time and there are hazards. We have alot of ticks with Lymes disease around here. My wife and I have had it twice, it killed our three newfies. Lots of prickers, mosquitos, deer flies, horse flies, and noseeums. When looking under something it is much better to have on jeans than to put a bare knee on gravel. No sunburn either. Jeans always! Good Luck, Rick

Yeh, I'm not one for shorts either. I burn easy so I avoid that on my legs by wearing pants.

When the wife and I got married we made a deal,  I don't tell her what to wear and she doesn't tell me.  I wear jeans just about all the time now and I have always been a jeans person.  I do wear short on occasion like to the beach or like last fall my son and I were coaching Kids soccer but 95% if of the time it's a pair of jeans.

If it's really hot and muggy I will wear shorts in the house or the shop. I would never leave home with them on unless at the lake.

I'd hate to be responsible for putting someone in shock. :smilewink:

I only wear shorts on vacation or to tractor shows. (Cargo shorts with leg pockets). I noticed the real old timers didn't wear shorts, tank tops or go shirtless they wore full sleeves that button at the cuff.. Cargo pants and Tee shirt is my everyday uniform .

I don't even own a pair of shorts, I always wear heavy (very thick so they don't tare easy) cargo pants and I wear a blank T-shirt with a pocket. All my cloths are the same color (black) so they don't stain easy and I'm sure everyone around here thinks I never change cloths lol.

10 yrs ago?? Ha! Must be Jethro?   I Never wear shorts either. I do too much living in garage and bump around, squat to floor and just dirt all over to wear. Plus, older I get, easier it is to bump and damage my legs it seems, so have Ugly legs!  When I did wear them, they were cut off pants with rolled up edge on bottom, pretty short. NOW, looks like people are wearing huge size mans shorts, some even hang past knees and flop all over. I couldn't stand that at all. My family thinks I'm nuts to want to wear those real short ones that I tried in past, but they at least fit and didn't fall open to see my parts and etc!  I like it warm, I'm always cold, worse now when older. They have AC on at plant, and I wear long tees and sometimes a flannel shirt cause they run it so cool and blasting down on ya when working. NOT good and makes my nose run!  I don't buy expensive pants either. I have found the $9.99 Rural King pants with big pockets and SEVEN belt loops (important for hanging things on) are well made and last. I feel naked in shorts, specially those bigger, baggy ones. NOT for me!

Jeans all year round, lighter weight in summer. And a light but long sleeved shirt over my tee shirt, especially on sunny days. Hat too, although I hate them--- had sun stroke twice, not getting it again if I can avoid it.
