IMG00102-20110321-1752.jpg I have a mower Deck that came with the 1968 1050 I just bought. The part number/Serial number tag is still on it but not readable. Does anyone know of a way to identify the pictured mower deck? The number shown in the second picture is located right behind the gearbox. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Is it 38" width of cut or a 42" cut?

38" models were: 18415, 18416, 18417, 18418, 18446, & 18449

42" models were: 18421, 18422, 18423, & 18457
(Early models were green, later models were red, then black.)

Sorry, I can't help more with a positive ID.

The number you found on the gear box is the gear box cover part #
Bolens printed part #'s on many part's on the tractor and attachments.

That was my first guess, too, but I couldn't trust my memory enough to be certain.

IMG00103-20110321-1753.jpg Great parts list, THANKS!!!! You guys are making this project so much easier with all your help. Can anyone help me out with parts lists for the snow blower and blade pictured above. I actually have a little more inf on these.

Snow Blower
Has a sticker that says "36 Snow Caster" and I think the Model No. is 18516 04

Blade
I think the Model No. is 1853 02

I am also wondering if there is some sort of a paint code/number. I want to restore these to as near original as possible so I will want the correct color paints.

Thanks!!!

Great parts list,

Blade
I think the Model No. is 1853 02

The snowplow/grader blade was Model 18532. .....Yours is a 18532-02.

I believe the original color for your blade was the same yellow as your snowblower was painted.

The blades were painted gold, then yellow, then red, then black, then I think dark green. .....I can't tell you which versions (-01, -02, -03, etc.)were which color, but the correct color for the years of the 1050 tractors was yellow.

Thanks Bruce, I think I'll scrape a little paint of it and see whats underneath. Any thoughts on where to get parts manuals for them?

Yeah! ----Bolens 1000 (Brian) should have the info for all your attachments. (I don't think I do.)

If the mowers had the brackets with the square holes welded to the rear of the deck, then the wheels came with the mower attachment. .......These were the later red(?) mower decks.

If the mowers just had the long skids/runners, then the wheel kits were an optional accessory for some models. .....These usually consisted of a pair of cast-iron pieces for the rear of each skid, and the wheels along with the necessary hardware.

The wheel kit for the #18457 42" mower deck was model # 18458. .....You may have the breakdown in your parts manual.

Yeah I guess mine were optional then. I got the cast iron pieces with the rubber wheels with that green Deck.

Here is a full color Brochure of the 1968 Bolens lineup that should help you verify correct colors.

The 1050's changed their shade of white on the hoods/ fender slightly each year. In 1969 it was a almond color.
