No engine number found.  No serial number on tractor.

Ok, on the engine, the tin cover that wraps around the cooling fins will have the tag with the model, serial and type numbers. The cover is facing the front of the tractor.

One of most Complete ones I have seen for sale. I have a book on those from a collector back when they had a Yahoo group for them. Not sure if group still around or not. Not much diff in any tractor models till near end of the run they had couple improved models. As said, one with all the belt covers and hood that nice and attachments is good deal if you like the brand. Not sure what happened to book, have to look some. Wonder if serials just stamped in frames like Speedex did and get painted or dirty'd over?

Don't know if this helps any: http://gardentractor...actor-brochure/

The model in the brochure used a B&S Model 14 engine.  ...This brochure was from the early 1950's.

As Trowel said, engine numbers should be stamped into plate covering cooling fins (attached by a cylinder head bolt).  ....Then it's easy to date the engine/tractor.
