correct plug for 12h briggs

what is the correct spark plug ( and gap ) for a briggs 12hp motor # 300421 ? mine has a champion h-10 and it runs but can i do better ? ( I am going to get some plugs )

Champion J17LM, J19LM, JC8 or equivalent. I'm not a big fan of Champion nowadays so I'd look for an equivalent cross.

well I went to napa and handed the kid the champion h10 and he computered up a ngk B-4 . should I just take it back ? how do I go about finding an equivalent cross to the ones you said ?

the gap is .030 ?

I use the 295 Autolite.Im not a Champion fan either....

The correct plug is a Champion RJ19LM

 

If you insist on not using an OEM champion an Autolite 308 will be a direct interchange

Champion H-10 is a plug with 1/2" reach (thread length).

 

Champion J series plugs are 3/8" reach.

 

Using a plug  that is too long may cause internal damage.

If I had the machine in my shop, it would leave with what it would have had originally, a J8C.

The h10 is what goes in your k301 Kohler.

Though it doesn't hurt, those old cast iron Briggs engines typically did not run resistor plugs.

thats a J8C correct ? :poke: these work in the 16hp briggs also ? are the carbs any different ( you would think so but ya never know )

correct. My dyslexia rearing it's head. Yes fits all the engines in that series.
