I got this Tiller last summer, guy said it sat outside for yrs, stuck in the ground but not seized.

The U joints are OK, I filled it up with gear oil and it seems to work.

I don't know if this is the right tiller for my MTD990 but it fits.

It is narrower than the rear wheels.

Looks like the MTD tiller for the 990, 760, 960. I think they will work with everything to the 995 and maybe the 998. Different drive shaft lengths.

Where did that attachment come from? I have one of those tillers, but no drive shaft for it. I would like to see how the driveshaft is set up on the tractor.
