This one will make #6, and was told it better be the last one for a while.  Found a G16XL on Cl a while back and thought real hard about it but it sold while I was thinking.  Then this one came up and started thinking again.  Made the call Thursday evening and bought it.  Leaving early in the morning on a long trip to get it.  Would be coming back through the Kansas City area about 3 - 4 pm.  Not good when the race is at Kansas Speedway starting at 5pm.  Will have heavy East bound traffic all afternoon.  Going to jump off on #65 and go North a ways and then back West on #36 to St Joe and on up.  As will all these older tractor it needs some work, but nothing that I can't handle from what I found out so far.  Really wanted a large frame but they seldom show up in this country and when they do are well out of my price range.

6 is too many!  You need to drop that Ride-Matic off here since you will only be 2.5 miles from me at one point.  :smilewink:

Sorry Kris but I think Carolyn has laid claim to that one.  She sat on it once and said "Oh ya.  I like this a lot better than those others" (1050-1053 etc.)

Back home after retrieving the G16XT today.  13 hours on the road and just shy of 700 miles is a long day.  WAs worth the trip and the tractor and attachments were in better condition than expected. This is the disc that came with the package.  don't know what flavor its and haven't looked it over for an ID of any kind.  Looks in good shape, turns free and blades are all solid

Got this cultivator with the package also.  I think this could be a Bradley from the orange paint, they way it attaches and the way it clamps the shanks to the tool bar.  Wheels are cast and tires in good condition.  Any thoughts??

And this is what I was really after.  Bad starter gear is the main fault.  Battery was up after sitting all winter (PO said)  Hood was solid and nothing repainted.  Labels still readable.  Engines Is free.  Electric lift for the sleeve hitch.  Never thought of doing it this way but sure gave me some ideas !!  Tires are good and hold air.  Oil looked good in the 16h Briggs.  Going to make a good solid tractor.

Tractor Model : 1662   Serial:  0100129   Briggs engine Model:  402137     Type: 013901

Anything anybody wants to enlighten me on fire away.

It sure was Patrick. Gosh, took it right out of your back yard. Wish it was only 10 min from me though. 13 hours is a long day especially with at least 10 hours driving in the rain. At least the roads and vehicles were clean. Truck and trailer with load didn't look to bad when we got home.

Patrick.

OK you Bolens experts, just where in the Bolens tractor line does this one fit in?  I am sure it is the XL series or medium frame but the decal states G16 XT.  The print out I have from Tractor Data does not show any XT tractors.. No model listing either for a 1662, just the for a G16XL.  The Medium Frame Service Manual does not list a Briggs Model 402137 engine either for the XL series.  Not real sure just what I do have  now? ?

The G16XT is that of a Medium Frame Series, which is also known as 'XL series" (same thing).

G16XT is a model 1662. it was only made in 1981 and 1982. The Briggs engine is a model 402437 16HP L Head opposed twin. Tractor was replaced by model 1667 (1600G) the following year.

Thanks much Paul. That clears up a lot of questions I had. What a great site this is. Ask and you will receive.

Can anyone identify that little disk? I has been repainted and the hitch for a sleeve hitch has been home made. Poor welding job at best. All the weld is on top of the iron.
