Can someone tell me what this piece in the picture is called.  Or is there a part number?  I need one complete with battery box and fuel tank tray, but I don't know what to use for search words.

thanks in advance

I think it's usually called the steering column.
It's part of a welded assembly.
I yours dented or something?

1650420....book calls it the Dash Assembly.

Most folks call the top plate with the steering column whole in it the Dash, but the book calls that part the Instrument Panel.

This one doesn't look too bad, but would need a repaint for your application.  Not sure I'd fork over $50 for one.  I don't tinker with the 7000's, or I'd just give you a spare.  I bet a want ad lands you one inexpensively.  Your picture says 1000 words.

sad thing is there is a tractor scraper 50 miles from my house.  Guy has tonnage, lots of tonnage.  has lots of items on ebay and constant listing on Craigslist here in South Dakota. But he sucks as a salemen.  I have been trying to buy parts from him for 4 years now.  drove to his place, looked around. handed him a list of what I wanted. never heard from him again. called him, he never returns a call.  Bought the parts of the internet and other Cub Cadet collectors.  got these Allis's a few years back, contacted this guy again.  never calls back. his wife answers "oh he call you back in 10 min" never get a call. call and call no one answers, no voice mail.  Contact him thru Ebay, doesn't answer his messages, he has a facebook page, never answers there either.

How can you want to be a tractor scraper, if you never answer your contacts.  very aggravating.  he has all the parts I need and want.  I can see them from the road.

frustrating.

The shipping is what kills you on those. It costs at least $20 to ship one due to their size and the seller wants to get enough for their time removing (sometimes not easy) and cleaning, packaging, and marketing the item. Wouldn't mind having a few extra of those myself. Its the first part to go on an RBT.

It is a no win situation my friend , I have the same problem I want to fix stuff not tear it up . so now I have a cool dozen . if you want a parts tractor buy one thats in a big pile and then use the parts before " evaluating " it
