The deck belt broke.  I put a new deck belt on this one, same size and everything it is on right and tension appears to be good.  My question is, what engages the spring loaded tensioner pulley?  Mine is under there and I can push it by hand and put tension on the belt but none of my foot levers or the speed control move that thing, is it just supposed to sit by spring?  The issue I'm having with this mower is that I can't get it to roll freely, even when i disengage the trans from the rear, it won't roll free.  It fires right up runs great but doesn't move at all when i put it in drive or reverse.  I can't get it to move at all.  The brake does not appear to be stuck.  It's actually slightly loose.  And if i depress the brake pedal it will allow me to move the forward control knob forward, however after i let the brake out the mower doesn't go anywhere.  What is wrong with the transmission.  I'm wondering if it's still not fully engaged or soemthing?  Also, when i have it jacked up i turn one wheel and the other wheel goes ina  different direction, is that normal?

thank you in advance guys.

Was it working correctly before you replaced the deck belt? Unless it's posi-traction that is normal.

I would suspect the brake pads are hanging up. I've seen it on dozens of tractors in the spring when the parking brake was on for the winter. I would also suspect that the linkage may be hanging up. Good Luck, Rick

Ok, i'll take a look at this again tonight fellas.  I appreciate the replies.  I will also snap some pics to show you guys what i'm talking about.  The belt does not spin on the front or the rear, when the machine is running it doesn't spin, does that mean i'm not attached somewhere or not egnaging properly.

Does all this look normal guys.  i checked linkage things seem to be working, i'm concerned about the brake rotor being loose and the transmission disengage not working properly on the shaft that goes into the tranny there.the belt is spinning as well as the transmission is spinning.  So i can see the transmission fan on the pulley spinning properly but cannot get any movement.

would no or low fluid cause it not to engage or move at all?  it doesn't whine or anything, motor doesn't bog when i throw it in gear, but i know for sure tha the pulley on the hydro is spinning.

The input shaft could be broken. The brake rotor should not have grease on it. May be a problem there.

If all looks well with the belts, I would say the trans is in need of repair.

I know this is a old post but did it ever get figured out? If not what is the model number of the tractor?
