Hi there my first post and asking for a little help, i have bought a 3108 mower which was in quite a state of disrepear, Put a battery on turned the key and the coil started smoking, put the multimeter over the earth shut off to the coil and its 12v having traced the wires the coil earth is connected to the magneto wire behind the ign switch. had to buy a new coil as the old one was not smelling to good after that.

Also where the regulator wiring loom plugs in to the main loom the earth wire had burnt though.

Thinking i just best strip the loom and trace where wires are going as even the seat switch or pto switch have been bypassed, if anyone has a good easy to follow wiring diagram that would be a great help

thank you again

kev

Welcome to the site, any pictures. Maybe a wiring diagram in the manuals section. Noel

Atached an image of a part that is on the mower, now all wiring diagrams are saying this should not be on electric start mowers.

from the stator the wire is red white stripe that goes to the ign switch, also in the same terminal is red and yellow and that goes to the engine block and is joined to a black wire that goes to the coil for cutting it out, so soon as the engines running the coil gets the 29vac from the stator.

just wondering if this is std wiring or its been tampared with before i rip the loom apart and check it all for alterations

Do you have a battery powered coil? If so you have the wrong ignition switch.

no only wire is a shut off, striped the wiring right down shoved a 4 pin regulator in and only thing that does nork at the min is the seat switch for cut off just need a relay to get that working as the switch works in reverse
