Been using a 33" Craftsman walkbehind but just had back surgery a couple months ago and i don't think handling it is in my too near future (yard is fairly hilly) so i picked up this T1400h. Not cosmetically perfect by any means but not too bad either for it's age. Seems well maintained and runs well too. Only time will tell but hopefully it was a good decision, I just felt that with my given budget (which is pretty tight right now) i would be better off with something like this instead of a later model used box store mower. Pick up some new filters and fluids and am going to do a hardcore service on it tomorrow so hopefully it will stay good. If it will give me at least one good season maybe next year i can get that JD 530 i want.

Congrats on the new mower. I'd say that little mower should last you a while, certainly more than a year, given the good shape it's in. It's obviously either very low hours or very well maintained, or perhaps both.

She is my little partner, and was mainly just bummed she can't reach the pedals to drive it. The ICEE helped though

Pulled the blades and found this. On the bottom of one of the spindles there is a big spacer-washer thingamajig, on the other there isn't. Looking online at some exploded views i can't find one that shows the washer. Seems like without it all kinds of smutz will get into the spindle (as was the case when i removed the blade). Other than that it doesn't seem all that vital (doesn't seem to support the spindle or anything.IMG_20150420_204540.jpg IMG_20150420_204606.jpg

Update, went by Kubota today out of curiosity at lunch, and they pulled up their schematics and the large end washer piece should be there.  They didn't have one on hand but the tech said he believed (and it looks like it on the parts diagram) that it is one piece though and should have to be there.  Possibly it was an early version that lacked this "guard".  Seeing how mine doesn't presently have any play in it and a new one is $125 I am just going to not worry about it until it fails.  Maybe if I can find a washer in the right diameter I will put it on it.
