My original engine has failed after 25 years of use. I have decided to repower my SImplicity with a newer Briggs engine. The new engine is a Model: 49T877 Type: 0006G1. What I need help with is what wires from the original harness connect to the new engine harness.

From Tractor harness:

Gray - Same connector with Red/White - Originally connected to serrator

Red/White - Same connector with Gray - Originally connected to serrator

red/yellow - to engine block

Black/white - to coil

On new engine

Black/gray - to coil

gray - to fuel pump

red with red jumper - to voltage regulator

Any idea how to hook everything up? Mowing season is right around the corner.

Thanks

I will take a go at this

1- alternator part number 592830 should have 2 wires going into a yellow connector that connect to voltage regulator 845907

2- .wire from voltage regulator to battery needs to be fused

3 - fuel shut of solenoid part number 798779 should have 12 volts when start switch is in on position

4- Coil should have a kill wire that stops engine when connected to ground through safety switches and start switch.do not apply 12 volts to coil wire.

1- correct have this connection
2- from voltage regulator (engine harness]: red wire w/jumper fused to where?
3- fuel shut off will have black/white wire connected to gray (12volts when switch is on)
4- coil (black wire on engine harness) will have red/yellow wire as kill wire.

From tractor harness this leaves me with 2 wires that may or may not need connection.
In the same connector with a red wire (12volts when switch is on) and gray wire (0 volts on or off) which do one hooks to the voltage regulator (red wire with jumper)
