This is to mow grass Kurtee.  They are only interested in a new machine.

Yep one of the Craftsman with a hand operated hydro would be my choice too.  Putting it back to the neutral position would stop it, A hand brake would not be all that hard to rig up to the brake pedal.

so far.

But my question was can one operate a foot style modern hydro lawn tractor from the cruise control and ignore the foot control.   I don't have easy access to one to find out.  Nearest retailer is an hour away.

Thanks for the info. Is a zero turn out of the picture? 2 levers and no foot control needed. If a hand control is needed on a tractor I would look for the best tractor for the job and modify it for hand control. My Kubota with the rocker control would not be very hard to make linkage and a handle to control it. Also if the rocker is centered in neutral it will start right up, nothing else to mess with.

NO you cannot use just he cruise control. That is a really misleading name. All the cruise control is is just a little lock that keeps the Hydrostatic transmission at the selected speed. You still have to use the foot control to get to speed.

There at not all that many hand operated hydros anymore. I was thinking about the older Craftsman mowers.

If they can afford it they should look into a zero turn. IT would be the easiest to operate.

They have looked at and rejected ZT's.  I don't recall the reasoning other than it made sense.

Thanks for the info.

I have a junked YTS3000 on hand with the fender mount control.   It may be new enough such that the hydrogear fender control parts might fit on a new craftsman.

I bought 2 of my Case' off a guy who had MS. That's why he collected them. He needed help getting on but once on he was good to go.

It is hard to find anything other than the big box disposable tractors in this area.   Old garden tractors are few and far between.
