I have to say I have a cushey lab job, I have about 2- 2 1/2 hours that I have to wait for samples to dry in an oven so I can test them. I really have not much else to do than wait thus I have some time to internet surf, of course,  I spend most of it on GTT!!

Just got word they are monitoring our internet usage and may smack our hands so looks like my GTT time will be limited. We got new owners last fall so I guess they are tightneing the belts!  I rarely get on at night so without my morning surf, I won't be on as much. Sucks, but gotta follow the rules, maybe I will have to start cleaning the lab   :wallbanging:  :smilewink:

What am I gonna miss  LOL :D

My friend owns a sandpaper company and they monitor the internet and know where employees have been. One sales rep got reprimanded for spending hours on porn sites as he obviously did not know that he was being watched. They were nice enough and told the guy that that would not tell his wife who worked in the office just next to his what he had been up to.

I won't say where my son works but he has the responsibility of making sure about 40 employees reach their quota for the day. Each employee has a chip in their I.D. tag so they can be monitored throughout the day if need be.

As been said it is not worth losing your job over.  You will adjust and you'll find the time, maybe not a lot at any one time but you'll get your fix.

They monitor ours quite a bit.

The only thing I've ever been told about is why I had 10+ hours on youtube each day.  I told them my daily thing is, come in, fire up the computer, open my email, go to youtube, pick a various artist or playlist of music, hit play, and then minimize it and let it run through the music all day.  Which is the honest truth.  I don't "watch videos" all day just listen to music awhile I'm working.  And even if I get up I don't pause it just let it keep playing.

I usually browse through my web forums awhile I am on the phone, or on hold.

I don't have good Internet where I live so I use my cell phone and it works great. Don't do anything to lose your job but you cannot be monitored on the cell.

They do this monitoring from time to time, guess we just got wind of it. I got taken in the office many years ago for looking at bikini models and gun sites, ended up someone else was using the PC I was logged on to.
I did the leave a website open all day playing music once too, used up all the data DOH. We cannot access music websites anymore.
We have a sensitive Web security, many sites are blocked, youtube, guns, porno, etc, not that I want to look at most of them anyway. I think it's more the time we spend on them. Shoot, I had a couple hours in the morning then my lunch hour so I need to get off anyway and get some work done.
My wife has had at least 2 baliffs at her court fired caused they had uploaded porn to their work PC and the IS people found it while working on the computers, are people that stupid. Yea, guess so.

I'm on my smart phone now, can't track me. Just a pain looking at for us on a small screen.

My brother has a computer shop in TN. HE has had to turn more than one person in to the cops for child porn. He has a sign in his shop that states that if a computer is full of porn it will not be worked on. People don't seem to understand that. HE had to call one mother and tell her that her 13 year old sons computer was full of porn and had to call one family and tell them that their young (I thing he said like 12 year old) daughter had been sending naked pictures to a adult. People got arrested over those.

Our company computers won't even let you open up certain sites like gun sites for example.

And it is always being monitored!!
