Thanks, Eric. the springs and brushes push straight up from the end, instead of outward or inward. There just didn't seem to be any way to pin them down. Once I got a couple, then I could get the other two with needle-nose pliers. Here's a pic.

Put the starter and new fuel pump on today. Got it fired and let it run for a while. Boy, that Onan sounds so sweet. Time for an oil change and some minor fixes.

Nice Nice.Glad ya got it running.
I loved my old SS16 with 16hp Onan.It was super smooth and had an enormous amount of power.
The only thing I didn't like about it was how much fuel it used. She was a hungry little munster.

They can use a little gas. If my plan for this goes as I want, I am going to put a set of 26X12's on it with a pair of 18X6.50's on the front and try to fab a mid-mount grader for it. The inch or so of ground clearance will allow for a little taller grader. I will have to make more notches for the lift handle to lock in, as it only locks up or all the way down right now. Hoping I get the hood and grille the end of May for it. I will have to run the exhaust different then, as I won't cut that hood.
