What's a 1977 john Deere 400 worth said it has a 2000 rpm pto and linemar lx790 engine that I'm kinda scared of cause I never heard of them but I guess its just a rebadged Kohler.

I believe that is actually an Onan engine, not a Kohler. You can look up Linemar and get the info. I think it's 20HP.  If that engine is low hours and well maintained you have got a very nice power plant.

Decent one's in my area bring in the $2,000 dollar range.

If the motor smokes or it sounds like the rods etc are loose look out for a very pricey rebuild.  A real heavy built workhorse though.

Originally, these 400 tractors had 19.9 hp Kohler motors. The serial number for a 1977 should fall between 70,001 - 80,000.
