Most owners of these blowers  don't know it until it happens to them but under that half shield is a jackshaft that is not available anywhere making it worth some cash and the bearing to the jackshaft new is 50 bucks  If I didn't have 3 of these already I would take it just for the parts you can find the parts breakdown for these in partstree under attachment to the 1855

I have the engine dialed in. I will be getting a battery this weekend and a gas tank grommet. I want to take her on a maiden voyage this weekend. Pic I tried some buffing compound. Still rusty.

I tightened the belt and instant change. I will do a fluid change next check. I will need to tear the steering apart to replace the steering column. Here is a fun pic next to my Wards Squire 10

No need to use the 'r' word. Around here, they call that 'patina', and it is revered in some circles.

Tore into the steering column. It was a job to get it out. I am buying a good used steering column.

Do they make replacement dashes?

I might have to try my had to repair it then. I need to order the pto switch still. I might try to start work on the mower deck. I have everything to rebuild it, pullies bearings and what not. I will need to get belts, blades and the drive shaft rebuilt

don't want to hear that, mine may need to come out, it's pretty sloppy. I had a chance to buy column and dash from a 1655 that got parted, I was out of $$$

I thought someone on here made a complete new dash about 2 yrs ago, maybe I'm wrong. I know I saw it somewhere, they made a complete metal dash.

I seen that thread really nice but beyond my current capabilities. I paid 65$ for the steering column. Same guy I bought the extra onan, 3 point, and mower deck parts from. I am slowly buying all his parts lol

I replaced the steering column and wow huge difference. I started to have stumbling issue and I lost spark. Tracked it down to faulty points. Time for a complete tuneup.

I hope to look at the mower deck tomorrow I will update you on that fun job
