My Ariens Lawn mower will not shut off when I put the ignition in the off position. I was just going to put a toggle switch in between the kill wire and the frame for an easy solution. As I researched armature and kill switches I see plenty kill wires for sale with two wires extending out (see picture). I don't understand where the extra wires go. Any help would be appreciated.

Check the engine manual in our Manuals Section. I would suspect that the wire is broken. Check for continuity. Good Luck, Rick

What engine does your mower have?

I hope I am seeing a Briggs coil with the electronic trigger? (magnetron?) One wire would go to the small wire at the coil and the other would go to a good ground. You need to ground the small wire to turn it off. AND....Welcome to the forum!!

if it runs then the armature/magneto coil is not bad. the "not shutting off" is probably a broken kill wire somewhere (which comes off of the coil)
