It finally warmed up and dried out enough to start a project with the ford 3000 I bought last fall.

I have had a drainage problem on one side of the shop and needed to fill in an ATV mud pit I dug for my son 6 years ago, so I started digging dirt to get the water to go around the shop instead of through it. I have lost track of how many loads I have hauled. Just a rough guess would be around 40 yards.

I haul it with a power dump trailer I built last summer. 5X7 with 18" sides, roughly 2 yd box. It dumps with a trailer tongue jack. Each load gets a little easier and quicker as I pick up a few tricks along the way.

The mud pit is full, now I need to fix the ruts in the yard I made by doing that.

Better pile it a foot higher to allow for settling. You're getting a lot of seat time!

Yeah, I gotta wait for it to dry out more to do the final grade. Its old sticky gumbo and packs good. By the time I get it all smoothed out, it will be stomped in pretty good.

I think that I have logged 25 hours on this all ready. Still have a lot to go.

Nice to see some dirt work going on! Just stay out of it until it dries good!

I have burned up enough fuel for one day. Neck and upper back are getting stiff. I still have alot of dirt to dig out to get it where I want it. Have to start building a pile now instead of putting it in the trailer. When the pile dries out good, I will till it up and I can spread it with the trip gate on the trailer to fill in low spots and ruts to smooth out the mowing chore.

Glad to see someone is getting something done. All we have here is red clay and it is swampy. I don't dare take Steph's truck into the yard.

Lucky you, getting to play in the dirt already.

It'll be at least a month and a half, or 2, before any of

that'll be going on up here.

I finished the final grade on the old mud pit today. I put down some grass seed and got it raked in. Hit and miss sprinkles all day today, small chance on Tue, 60% on Wed. I built a water trailer 16 years ago with a 7 foot pvc header on the back. Thinking about digging it out to water this spot and the one by the shop were the dirt came from.
