The kohler 532s is only firing on one cylinder. Here is what I have done: New plugs and wires, cleaned wiring connections on coil, clean coil where plugs wires plug in with qtips and electronic cleaner. I have put thumb over spark plug hole and have enough compression that I can't hold it there.
Now here is what going on. The cylinder very rarely will start firing momentarily then stop again. If I take the plug out and ground to block I get spark, but with plug in I can pull wire with no difference. When I pull wires at coil that side has no spark the other will arc from 3/4 in away.
Does the coil send fire to both plugs at once? If so I could switch wires to see if the problem follows the coil to the other cylinder. At this point I am assuming it is the coil not firing on one side... any ideas?

Not ever dealt with a 532, but pretty sure they fire at the same time. For sure if both spark plug wires go into the same unit. So yes, you can switch the wires to see if it follows. If non-firing does switch to other cylinder, then it's new coil time. There are 2 separate coils inside that unit, so either can go bad individually.

I agree with Daniel. I think it is the coil.

There is only one unit, so I will try to switch.

I received the coil from kirk engines today along with the point saver. I installed the new coil and now she runs perfect. Hopefully I'll get around to installing the pointsaver at some point in the near future. But for now I'm looking forward to playing on the new to me mower with tiller.
